Choosing the right trimmer line size depends on your string trimmer model and the type of yard work you're tackling. Most trimmers list compatible line diameters in their manuals or on the spool housing.

• Light trimming jobs usually use thinner lines (like 0.065"), which are great for grass and small weeds.
• Heavier tasks or larger yards may need thicker lines (such as 0.080" or 0.095") for durability.

Always check your trimmer’s specifications before purchasing replacement spools or lines to ensure a proper fit and optimal performance.

Not all spools are interchangeable, so it’s important to match the spool type and line diameter to your string trimmer model.

• Some trimmers require specific spool shapes or auto-feed systems.
• Check your owner's manual or the label on your trimmer for compatible spool models and line sizes.

Using the correct spool helps your trimmer run smoothly and prevents damage or jams. If you’re unsure, look for replacement spools listed as compatible with your trimmer brand and model.

Replacing a trimmer line spool is usually straightforward, but steps can vary by model.

1. Turn off and unplug your trimmer (or remove the battery).
2. Press the tabs or unscrew the cap to remove the old spool.
3. Insert the new spool, making sure the line feeds through the eyelets.
4. Secure the cap and check that the line advances properly.

Always follow your trimmer’s instructions for safe and proper installation. If you’re using a pre-wound spool, it can make the process even quicker.

Twisted and round trimmer lines offer different benefits for yard work.

• Twisted line is designed for added strength and reduced vibration, making it ideal for tougher weeds and thicker grass.
• Round line is easier to install and works well for general trimming tasks.

Your choice depends on the job and your trimmer’s compatibility. Always check your trimmer’s manual for recommended line types and sizes.

Proper storage keeps your trimmer line and spools in good shape.

• Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent brittleness.
• Keep spools in their packaging or a sealed container to avoid tangling and moisture exposure.
• If you have bulk line, coil it neatly and secure with a twist tie.

Taking care of your supplies can help them last longer and make yard work easier when it’s time to reload your trimmer.
