Choosing the right size extra small harness is all about measuring your pet accurately. Here’s what you can do:

• Use a soft tape measure to check your pet’s chest girth (just behind the front legs) and neck circumference.
• Compare your measurements to the sizing chart on the product page, since sizes can vary between brands.
• If your pet is between sizes, it’s usually best to size up for comfort and adjust the straps for a snug, secure fit.

Double-checking measurements before you buy can help ensure your pet stays comfortable and safe on walks.

Yes, many extra small harnesses are designed to fit both small dogs and cats. When shopping, look for harnesses labeled as suitable for cats or small pets. Make sure the harness is adjustable and made from soft, breathable materials for comfort. Always supervise your cat when introducing a harness, and let them get used to wearing it indoors before heading outside. If you’re unsure, check the product details for guidance on which pets the harness is intended for.

Most extra small harnesses can be cleaned with these simple steps:

• Check the care label for specific instructions.
• Hand wash the harness in cool water with mild soap to remove dirt and odors.
• Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry completely before using again.

Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the fabric and reflective strips. Regular cleaning helps keep your pet’s harness fresh and comfortable.

Many extra small harnesses are designed with escape-resistant features, like adjustable straps and secure buckles. However, no harness is completely escape-proof for every pet. For the best fit, adjust the harness snugly without being too tight, and monitor your pet during walks. If your pet is a known escape artist, look for harnesses specifically labeled as "escape-proof" and introduce the harness gradually to help your pet get used to it.

Many extra small harnesses include reflective strips or stitching to help improve visibility during low-light walks. These features can make it easier for drivers and others to spot your pet at night or in dim conditions. When browsing options, check the product description for mentions of reflective materials or high-visibility features. Pairing a reflective harness with a leash or collar that also has reflective elements can add another layer of safety for your pet.
