Fabric dyes are designed for a variety of materials, but their effectiveness can depend on the type of dye and the surface. Most fabric dyes work best on natural fibers like cotton, linen, and rayon. Some can also be used on blends or synthetics, but results may vary. For craft projects, always check the product label to see if it's suitable for the material you have in mind, such as canvas, t-shirts, or even wood. Testing a small area first can help you see how the color takes before starting your full project.

Setting the color helps your dyed fabric stay vibrant after washing.

• Many dye kits include a color fixer or recommend rinsing with cold water until it runs clear.
• Some dyes suggest heat-setting, like ironing or using a dryer, to lock in the color.
• Always follow the instructions included with your dye pack for the best results.

Absolutely! Tie dye kits are a fun way to refresh old clothes.

• Make sure the fabric is clean and free of any fabric softener or residue.
• Natural fibers like cotton tend to absorb dye more evenly.
• Keep in mind that stains or previous colors may affect the final look, so results can be unique.

Dyeing can get messy, but a few simple steps can help keep things tidy:

1. Cover your workspace with plastic or old towels.
2. Wear gloves to protect your hands from stains.
3. Use squeeze bottles or spray applicators for more control.
4. Keep paper towels or wipes nearby for quick cleanups.

To store leftover dye,

• Seal bottles or containers tightly to prevent spills and drying out.
• Label them with the color and date for easy identification later.
• Keep dyes out of reach of children and pets, and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
