Deep picture frames are often called shadow boxes or gallery frames. These frames have extra depth between the glass and the backing, making them perfect for displaying items with dimension, like medals, dried flowers, or keepsakes. Shadow boxes usually come with a secure closure and sometimes a fabric backing for pinning objects. Gallery frames, on the other hand, are designed to give artwork or photos a "floating" effect, often used for canvas prints. Both types are popular for creating eye-catching wall displays with more than just flat photos.

If you want to increase the depth of a picture frame, here are a few options:

• Add a spacer: Use foam board or mat spacers between the glass and the backing to create extra space for dimensional items.
• Use a shadow box insert: Some craft stores offer inserts that fit inside standard frames, adding depth.
• DIY extension: Carefully attach a wooden strip or molding to the inside edge of your frame for a custom solution.

Always make sure your modifications are secure and the frame can still be safely hung or displayed.

If you’re looking for alternatives to traditional picture frames, consider these creative options:

• Shadow boxes: Great for displaying 3D items and layered artwork.
• Clipboards or binder clips: Offer a casual, changeable display for photos or prints.
• Photo ledges or shelves: Let you easily swap out art and layer multiple pieces.
• Hanging wire or string with clips: Perfect for a gallery wall look without frames.

These alternatives can add a unique touch to your space and make it easy to update your décor.

You can find a variety of extra-large picture frames at Walmart, both online and in-store. The selection includes deep frames, shadow boxes, and gallery frames in larger sizes for posters, artwork, or collages. Use the site’s filters to narrow down by size or style. If you need something specific, check for custom framing options or multi-pack sets that include oversized frames. Shopping at Walmart gives you the convenience of home delivery or in-store pickup, making it easy to get the right frame for your project.

Displaying keepsakes in a deep picture frame or shadow box is simple and fun:

1. Open the frame and arrange your items on the backing, using pins, glue dots, or fabric for support.
2. Layer flat and dimensional objects for visual interest.
3. Secure everything so it stays in place when upright.
4. Close the frame and check the arrangement through the glass.

Deep frames are perfect for memorabilia like tickets, medals, dried flowers, or small collectibles. Just make sure heavier items are well-supported to prevent shifting over time.
