The power plug on a computer is commonly called a power cord or AC power cable. For desktops, it’s often a 3-prong cable with a connector known as IEC 60320 C13 that plugs into the power supply. Laptops usually use a power adapter with a detachable cord, which may have different tip shapes depending on the brand and model. Always check your device’s manual or the label near the power port to make sure you’re using the right type of plug for safe and reliable power.

Most desktop computers use a 3-prong NEMA 5-15P to IEC C13 power cord as the standard plug in the United States. This type of cable fits into a typical wall outlet and connects to the back of your computer’s power supply. For laptops, the standard can vary—many use a barrel connector or USB-C, depending on the model. If you’re unsure, check your computer’s specifications or look for the shape of the port where the cord plugs in.

Most PCs use a 3-prong power cord with an IEC C13 connector for desktops. This is the same type of plug you’ll find on many monitors, printers, and other electronics. Laptops, on the other hand, may use barrel connectors, USB-C, or proprietary plugs. If you’re replacing a cord, match the connector type and voltage requirements to your device for safe operation. You’ll find a variety of universal and brand-specific options at Walmart to fit different PC models.

The power port on a desktop computer is typically called an IEC C14 inlet, which is where the power cord plugs in. On laptops, it’s often referred to as a DC-in jack or charging port. The exact name can vary by device, but these terms are commonly used. Always use the correct cord or adapter for your computer’s power port to avoid compatibility issues and ensure safe charging.

• Check your device’s model number: Look for details on your computer or in the manual to find compatible cord types.
• Match the connector shape: Compare the plug on your old cord or the port on your device to the product images online.
• Consider cord length: Choose a length that fits your workspace without excess slack.
• Look for safety certifications: UL certification and proper voltage ratings help ensure safe operation.

Walmart offers a range of universal and brand-specific power cords, so you can find the right fit for desktops, laptops, and monitors.
