Choosing the right blank CD depends on what you plan to record.

• Storage capacity: Most CD-Rs offer 700MB or 80 minutes of audio, which works for music, photos, or data files.
• Speed rating: Look for the speed (like 48X or 52X) to match your CD burner for faster recording.
• Pack size: If you need lots of discs, consider larger spindles. For occasional use, smaller packs are handy.
• Compatibility: Make sure your CD drive supports the disc type and speed.

Using an external CD drive is pretty straightforward.

1. Connect the drive to your computer using the USB cable.

3. Insert your CD or DVD into the drive.
4. Open your preferred software to play, burn, or copy files.

To keep blank CDs in good shape, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

• Use the spindle or case they came in to protect from dust and scratches.
• Avoid stacking loose discs, as this can cause damage.
• Keep them away from heat sources and humidity, which can affect performance.

CD-R discs are designed for one-time recording, so you can't erase or overwrite files once they're burned. If you make a mistake, you'll need to use a new blank CD-R. For projects that might need changes, consider using CD-RW discs, which allow multiple rewrites, but always check if your drive supports them before buying.
