The "200 rule" in camping usually refers to keeping your campsite at least 200 feet away from water sources, trails, and other campsites to minimize environmental impact and maintain privacy. When using a camping net, this rule helps ensure you're setting up in a spot that's both considerate of nature and other campers.

• Choose a flat, dry area for your mosquito net setup.
• Stay 200 feet from lakes, rivers, and streams to protect wildlife habitats.
• Follow campground guidelines for net placement to help preserve the outdoors for everyone.

It's surprisingly common to forget small but essential items when heading out for a camping trip. Some of the most overlooked things include:

• Bug protection like mosquito nets or insect repellent
• Extra tent stakes or repair kits for your gear
• Headlamps or spare batteries for lighting
• Reusable water bottles or water purification tablets
• First aid supplies for minor emergencies

Many campers find sleeping under a mosquito net to be both comfortable and reassuring, especially in areas where insects are active. Mosquito nets are designed with breathable mesh that allows air to flow while keeping bugs out.

• Choose the right size to fit your bed, hammock, or sleeping area.
• Set up the net securely to prevent gaps where insects could enter.
• Look for lightweight, portable designs if you plan to move campsites frequently.

If you don't have a mosquito net, there are a few alternatives to help reduce bug bites while camping:

• Wear long sleeves and pants to cover exposed skin.
• Use insect repellent on clothing and skin as directed.
• Sleep in a tent with zippered screens to keep insects out.
• Hang lightweight mesh or fabric over your sleeping area if available.

Keeping your camping net clean and properly stored can extend its life and performance.

1. Shake off dirt and debris after each use.
2. Hand wash with mild soap and cool water if the net is dirty—avoid harsh chemicals.
3. Air dry completely before packing to prevent mildew.
4. Fold gently and use the included storage bag or an elastic strap to keep it compact.
