Choosing the right size cake box depends on the dimensions and height of your cake. Measure your cake (including decorations) and select a box that’s slightly larger to allow for easy placement and removal. For tiered or tall cakes, look for boxes labeled as 'tall' or 'layer' to ensure enough space. If you’re unsure, it’s often helpful to have a bit of extra room rather than a tight fit, especially for cakes with delicate decorations.

While cake boxes are designed for cakes, many can also be used for cupcakes, pastries, or other baked goods.

• Check the box dimensions to make sure your treats fit comfortably.
• Some boxes have windows, making them great for displaying decorated items.
• If you’re transporting multiple cupcakes, consider using inserts or trays to keep them stable inside the box.

Most cake boxes sold for bakery use are made from food-safe materials, designed to safely hold cakes and other baked goods. Look for boxes labeled as food-grade or bakery-safe in the product details. If you’re concerned about direct contact, you can also use a cake board or parchment paper as a barrier between the cake and the box for added peace of mind.

Assembling a cake box is usually straightforward, but taking your time helps prevent tears or creases.

1. Start by folding along the pre-scored lines.
2. Secure the tabs into the slots as directed.
3. If the box has a window, gently press it into place to avoid bending.
4. For one-piece boxes, follow the folding sequence shown in the instructions or on the packaging.

To keep your cake boxes in good condition, store them flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Stack them neatly to prevent bending or warping.
• If possible, keep them in their original packaging until you’re ready to use them.
• For boxes with windows, avoid placing heavy items on top to prevent the window from creasing.
