Locating a cable break underground can be easier with a cable tracker. Most models use a transmitter and receiver to trace the signal along the wire.

• Connect the transmitter to the cable.
• Follow the signal with the receiver above ground.
• When the signal drops or changes, that's often where the break is.

Always follow the device instructions and wear appropriate safety gear. Results may vary based on cable depth and soil conditions, so patience is key.

Yes, many cable trackers are designed to help locate and diagnose issues with underground pet fence wires.

• Attach the tracker to the fence wire.
• Walk along the perimeter with the receiver.
• Listen for changes in the tone or signal, which can indicate a break or fault.

Be sure to check your fence system's compatibility with the tracker and follow all safety instructions for both devices.

A tone generator sends a signal through a cable, while a wire tracer detects that signal to help you follow the cable’s path.

• Tone generators are used to mark cables.
• Wire tracers pick up the signal and help you locate or identify cables.

Many kits include both tools, making it easier to find breaks or trace wires in walls, underground, or in network setups.

Testing network cables with a cable tracker is straightforward.

1. Plug the tracker into the cable’s connectors (like RJ45 or RJ11).
2. Use the receiver to follow the cable and check for continuity.
3. Look for signal interruptions or tone changes, which may suggest a fault.

Always refer to the tracker’s manual for specific steps and make sure the cables are not connected to live equipment during testing.

Many cable trackers are suitable for automotive wiring, especially those designed for low-voltage circuits.

• Check the voltage range supported by the tracker.
• Follow all safety instructions and avoid testing on live circuits.
• Use the tracker to find open or short circuits in car wiring.

It's important to select a tracker that matches your vehicle’s wiring specifications for safe and effective use.
