Cheap, Speedy, and Light!

These are wonderful computers. I bought one for myself and one for my wife! We wanted an i7 processor, but what it lacks having an i5, it makes up for in the SIXTEEN gb of ram!! For $500 its a real steal. My only complaints are it doesnt have a full SD card slot. I got both of ours, green and blue, at $500, BUT BEWARE! At the time of this review there is 1 green, and they inflated the price of it by $200!!!!! Look out when you select your color, maybe even wait until theres more in stock and it may be back to $500 instead of $700.

Great performing Notebook.

I received this Gateway 15.6 FHD Ultra Slim Notebook to replace an older Acer laptop.  The Acer was about 9 years old and had an older Intel Core i5 that was top of the line at the time of purchase, but was becoming more and more sluggish.  I don't know if it was because of all the apps, files and programs that have been loaded onto it over the years, or if it is just that it is becoming outdated, (such is life with technology).  The Gateway performs much faster.  It has a 10 Generation Core i5 processor.  It has 16GB of ram out of the box. The setup wizard was easy to navigate and is a painless process.  It will take you thru the process of setting up Cortana if you so choose, along with your logon credentials, which include a fingerprint logon.  It also allows you to pick a PIN in case it doesn't recognize your fingerprint for any reason.  It's always good to have a backup way to gain access in the event of an unlikely hiccup with biometrics.  It comes with Windows 10 Home edition.  The only tradeoff that I had to give up with this unit was that my old Acer had a 512GB hard drive and this Gateway has only a 256GB hard drive, but it is a SSD (Solid State Drive), so it is a much better technology than the Acer in that regard.  This doesn't bother my since there is usb 3.0 ports that I can connect mobile storage to if I need more storage space.  My daughter really appreciates the new Gateway, since the Acer was beginning to lag while she was playing Roblox.  It seems to run very well on this notebook.  It is bigger than I anticipated, given this has a 'notebook' label, and my Acer was considered a 'laptop'.  But it is very slim as far as thickness goes.  It came with Norton (Ultra I believe), but I opted to use a different antivirus and another antimalware program that I have used over the years.  Ultimately, I have no cons with this device. I really like the fingerprint scanner.  I have not yet researched if there is room to upgrade the RAM in this notebook, as I have a habit to max the RAM as soon as I get a new device, but given the performance so far, I see no need to do that at the present time.  It also comes with an onboard webcam, microphone and THX audio.  Along with the usual home use, we intend to use it for my daughters online school work.  I believe this is a great deal in this range of laptops/notebooks, and you would be far pressed to find a better deal at this price point that it lists for.

Good Value for the Pirce

So far, so good. Only had it for a few days but it is good value for the price. 16G RAM is more than some of the "expensive" laptops have. 250G SSD drive is good size for everything except our home movies. I like the keyboard. The processor is sufficient speed for everything we do. Camera and sound are good, and screen is good. Only thing I wish it had is one more USB port. I also would like a touch screen, but for the price difference, a mouse works just fine. I was a big Gateway fan many years ago. I hope I still am 2 or 3 years from now.
