Fits the non-commercial 5200

Fits a non-commercial 5200 Vitamix. Our blender is from 2010, so it's 15 years old. Our drive socket had worn out. We were having metal “dust” and rusting and a higher-pitched sound since the gears on the base weren't connecting well to the blender pitcher. So this drive socket was perfect. I watched the youtube video on how to replace it and it was easy. Also liked that this socket came with a tiny plug to go over the screw vs having to use silicone.

We have had our Vitamix for almost 30 years. While cleaning all the parts, I took off the original drive socket and it ended up getting mixed with a smoothie! I was SO grateful all I needed to do was order a spare part!

I appreciate Vitamix providing this part directly to the user instead of having folks purchase something of unknown origin and dubious quality from The Mother Ship (the big guy in Seattle). The drive socket is very important to the overall health of the motor...it acts as a flexible coupling in connecting the two independent components preventing any slight misalignment of cup from inducing excessive vibrations. It's important to replace the Drive Socket before excessive wear effects it's proper operation. Best practice would suggest maintaining a spare Drive Socket Kit to reduce or eliminate costly down time.
