VTech Spidey and His Amazing Friends Spidey Learn & Go Electronic Learning Toy for Toddlers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time my 4-year-old played with this, the biggest frustration for him was that he was constantly accidentally hitting Spidey's Web Shooter Buttons at the top, which ended up kicking him out of whatever game he was playing and forced him into Web Shoot mode. It's not clear at first that the Shooter Buttons are actually buttons since they look like Spidey's hands, and the rest of the layout looks like a typical handheld console with Direction Buttons and A/B Buttons, so it took my son some trial and error to learn how to hold it right. Right now, his favorite game is Web Letter Lab with the potions. The Lost and Found and Deep Dive games have been the hardest for him. He can't do those without asking for help but I see it as a good thing because that means this toy has some staying power instead of being something he masters and drops in a few weeks. Beyond the games and Web Shoot mode, there are also teaching modes for letters, numbers, and shapes, so kids who aren't ready for full gameplay yet still have something to engage with. This is an amazing toy for kids who love Spidey and all the characters, and is a fun way to sneak in short-term memory practice along with letter, number, and shape learning.
