Don't do it.

Read directions and set lock to new combination. Closed lock and reopened. Had wife do it—and it worked even better. Closing lock requires moving shackle at and angle to lock. Otherwise it won't close. However this is approximately the same as for inputting new combination, which I did the third time, The lock was rendered useless. The good news is I didn't lock it into the ranch gaTe with the wrong combination.
