Its a gimmick but it's still a fan.

Honestly if you just want a small fan and don't care about much else it blows air. The cooling plate in the center though? I wouldn't buy it for that because yes its a gimmick. To be fair yes the center plate will get very cold to the touch, but it uses one of those chips that i am not even going to try to spell the name of here, that gets equally as hot as it is cold on the other side of the element so it cancels out any actual cooling afect. Standing with my face right in front of it feels the same with the cooling plate on or off no different, all you get is a blinding blue light that is way to bright, you would be better off buying one of those swamp coolers by artic air and filling it with ice and even thats not great.
