Fresh Whole Rutabagas Each, Fresh Produce

Rutabagas are definitely underrated, and this one is a great reminder of why they deserve more attention. It was fresh and firm, with good color and no soft spots. I use it the same way I would carrots or other root vegetables, and it fits right in. It roasts beautifully, holds its texture well, and adds a mild, slightly sweet flavor to meals. I also enjoy it raw. Sliced or grated, it is crisp, refreshing, and surprisingly delicious. It works just as well in soups and stews as it does as a simple side dish. For such a basic vegetable, it is versatile, affordable, and adds great variety to everyday cooking.

The rutabagas were disappointingly small and dried up. It seems as if the order fillers select the worst of the worst when fulfilling an order. Probably the best thing is not to order fresh vegetables and fruits from Walmart.
