A bizzare science fiction film about AI

No spoilers on this. This movie is a parlor sci-fi, if Bergman would have made it. It's very cerebral. It's about artificial intelligence in Robots. It features an outstandingly subdued performance by the "Girl from the Man From UNCLE" -- the theatrical film just released on DVD Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. No super special effects. There is some super CGI in the making of Ava (Ms.Vikander). If I were to pick other sci fi films out there like this one I'd start with the original SOLARIS (the Russian one) and then 2001. No phasers, no photon torpedoes, just a story about Robots and AI. This is for fans of Heinlien, Clarke and Ellison sci fi. You could say it's about human nature.

Ex Machina is a thought provoking movie about AI

This movie focuses on Artificial Intelligence. The audience is brought through the movie with Caleb. He works for a search engine company and is selected to spend a week with CEO Nathan. Nathan's home is extremely secluded and has high security to ensure no one goes in or out that shouldn't. Nathan has been building androids with AI and Caleb has been chosen to determine if Nathan's latest creation, Ava, can pass the Turing Test/convince others of being human. There are surprises throughout and the ending definitely gets you thinking. Great effects, music, characters and storyline.
