This item works great for a very portable, light weight adjustable gun rest for target shooting; and to work on or clean your rifle. It is not designed to clamp down a rifle and is not weighted to prevent recoil movement for large caliber rifles - thats why its called and designed as a "steady rest"! I use it for my 22LR rifles and PCP airgun.
