Piece Of Mind

Perfect for being able to communicate when in extremely remote situations. I chose the Spot X over other devices because of the built in keyboard. I wanted to make using it easy even without and app. Some of the other devices really heavily on the all to send texts. Thats why I chose this one. Its also easy enough to use Ive shown my son how to do use it in case anything happened to me while out on a ride. Overall really happy with this purchase brings a lot of piece of mind while out on trips. Really only downside is it is a bit large.

Works as advertised, great peace of mind for myself and my wife

The one star review from the person who cannot apply a simple firmware update is extremely unfair! Therefore I'd like to balance this out. I've been using Spot for many years and at first had frustrations with being locked into 1 year contracts for a device I only use in the summer. They have since fixed that and allow month-to-month which was my #1 complaint. The device has always worked great and done exactly as it's advertised. My family LOVES being able to see where I am on the online map and my wife greatly appreciates the nightly check-in to know I'm safe each night so she can sleep. I continue to use my Spot device (gen3) year after year going on my 4th year.
