I purchased the extension cord to use for my outdoor Christmas lights and I've had no problems after heavy rain so they hold up well and are weather proof. I always recommend purchasing a few extra feet. So if you measure 6 feet is the distance you need your power area extended, then 8 feet is perfect! I also always use black tape around the connection to ensure that the weather causes no problems.
