If you are buying for a cat the 19" would be big enough. I have a rather large cat so I bouught the 22" carrier. It is way big but I am going to keep the carrier as it looks like it will suit my needs. Assembly was very easy Locks seem to work well

it is bigger then I thought it would be. we have a 7 month kitten who was going to be using it and she fit PERFECTLY in the crate, and there was even extra room as well. the door is a little hard to open and lock securely, but besides that it's a perfect and affordable crate. so I would definitely recommend it.
