We have 2 medium sized cats that regularly (every other week) travel about 2.5hrs in a car with us. One has IBD so needs to be in her own larger carrier in case messes happen. The other is fine in a medium size. We've been using old fashioned hard-sided carriers with the metal grating doors. They both hide when we bring them out but are fairly tolerant to travel. It's more like stoic. We bought this in a large (elsewhere) to check it out and ended up getting the XL (here) as well. Pretty nifty, work as described, lightweight, easy to carry because of the shape. I would call the Large more of a medium size compared to the XL. See photos. We opened them and casually set them out in the house. One cat has been enjoying using the XL as a cat cave. We'll see how they travel this weekend!
