I have owned many modular helmets in the past and this holds up remarkably for the price. No, you won't get the smooth flowing slide-up action that you would from a more expensive helmet, it is a little stiffer, HOWEVER, there is no way for me to know at the time of writing this that the action won't loosen and become softer over time. That said, the action is still perfectly do-able whilst riding, just a little more forward tilting of the head required to create the desired back-pressure against your face-lift action.
