Compared to Simple Human (which is my favorite and preferred soft-close containers) this is a great value and works well. I was concerned about it tipping when stepping on pedal - but it's well balanced and heavy enough to keep it steady. The removable hard plastic liner is a must for any metal bin, it prevents rust and helps keep it clean. I do wish that I could tuck the top of the plastic bag around the hard liner to hold it in place - but the lid won't close when I tried. That is the one advantage of Simple Human - they designed specific bags to snuggly fit over the top of the hard liner. I remedied this by attaching stick-on clips to the inside of the plastic liner to hold the bags.
