It appears in person as it did online. The construction is sturdy, the mechanism ran smoothly, and just as the instructions said, the butter was ready in exactly ten minutes, no problem. We will enjoy having this! you do need to get the two wooden paddles, sold separately, which you can see demonstrated on their YouTube how-to video. We also bought a wooden lamb butter mold. It all worked great together.
