This is a flexible storage unit. I can work as a nightstand, a little bookshelf, a curio cabinet, or many other purposes. It's synthetic coat is semi waterproof, but the particle board / MDF underneath is definitely not waterproof, so maybe not so good in a basement prone to flooding.

I got this to use as a fish tank stand. It was super easy to assemble and has a weight limit of almost 150 pounds so it works perfectly for my tank. I even found 13 x 13 x 15 cube organizer bins for it and it turned out perfect! I did also buy some wheels separately on Amazon to add to the stand so it was easier to transport for water changes
