Substantial and very good looking but....

Substantial weight and very good looking but I am noticing just a touch of wood "fraying/splintering". The chaise lounger has been out in 60 - 70 ish degree weather; some rain here and there for roughly four weeks and it is not even Summer yet. I feel as though I should weatherproof it with a wood sealer and maybe buy a cover sooner rather than later. I Would have given five stars but not sure how lounger will hold up to the heat in Summer. Side note - we have a 2 person household that is a pet free/smoke free environment.
