These poles are just what I need to stead my balance while walking....particularly early in the morning when the arthritis in my lower back and my knee's tendency to buckle are at their worst. People have told me that I should use a cane with a multi-footed bottom. But, having two poles gives me greater confidence because I never know which of my legs is going to be the one that needs support as I struggle to stand up or move forward. And, unlike most standard canes, these poles can be folded up and set aside when I'm sitting at a restaurant or theatre. The only downside I notice is that the poles have polyester hand straps or loops which can be a bit slippery to grasp if you prefer not to put them around your wrists (as they are meant to be used while hiking).
