The seat is really firm though and not too soft but not something I care too deeply about because it's still comfortable to sit on for my meals. The swivel feature is really nice too. Sometimes I wonder if I would have preferred a different design for the black metal bar on the back rest but it's still lovely. I just overthink furniture purchase I make.
