Similar to other reviews, the clips tended to pull out a little. Since I am using the suspenders for ski pants, and also did not want the clips to damage the fabric, I cut small pieces of thin scrap leather to fold over the fabric at the waistline where the clips attach. There where also wide belt loops at those locations, which added more thickness for the clips to attach to. The leather added even more thickness giving the clips more holding pressure. The leather folded over the waistline was placed with the rough side down adding enough friction so with the clip fastened, stayed in place showing no signs of wanting to slip off. Also, the leather piece was cut small enough so that when the clip was fastened it concealed most of the leather. Though I wasn't interest in sewing the buttons permanently onto the ski pants to secure the suspenders without the clips, I decided to see if Icould use the leather button attachments on the suspenders in a way that would provide a backup if the clips did come loose. Two buttons where provided for each suspender strap attachment point. I sewed each of the two buttons back to back together leaving roughly 1/4 " space between the buttons. The two leather attachment ends for each suspender strap were then placed through the belt loop from each side with the button slots overlapping each other. The back to back sewed buttons were then inserted through the buttons slots connecting the two leather button straps within the belt loop. So far both attachment types, clips and buttons connected through belt loops, are holding well.
