I keep it plugged into the socket that is only powered up when the truck is running, I'm in the truck for two or three 15 minute trips a day and the drinks stay cool the fruit stays fresh the chocolate doesn't melt, it's a great little unit. I plan to buy another one for my mini travel trailer that only has an icebox not a normal refrigerator.
