I needed a video camera that I could use while wearing thick bee gloves (my phone doesn't work with gloves on), and what I like is that you can adjust the hand strap on this (so I can easily get my gloved hand in) – and the buttons are physical buttons that you press on and off, so I have no problems using it with my gloves on. Once I'm out there inspecting my bees, there's no option to take your gloves off to tape on the phone screen with a bare finger – I HAD to have a camera that had push buttons. There are SO many features, I don't know where to start – all the different effects that I didn't even know existed – you can make the whole picture/video red or green or blue, or even film as a negative – I'm sure I'll be experimenting a lot with all of these. The sound is really good (picked up my dog tooting quietly in the background of a video – thanks for that) – and I LOVE that it comes with a 32gb micro sd card. Those cards are not cheap these days – so that was very helpful. The battery was 90% charged, although I did put the camera on charge for a few hours till it was 100% but that's a nice touch, being able to use it right out of the box. The instructions are good and very straight forward – and although I got this camera for really one main reason (document my apiary for my social media), I can see I'll be playing with it a lot more on the side, taking negative photos of my dog, or trying the other options it gives! There are a lot of manual touches too – so you can override the automatic settings (my brother is into photography so I know he'll be changing the settings) – I don't know enough about photography to do much, and the automatic setting is really what I need – and it was just so easy to use. Once I figured out how to change from video to photo mode (easy in the instructions), I was off. It has a hot shoe feature if I ever want to use an external flash – something that usually only very expensive cameras have. Great video camera. The screen itself is nice and bright so I can easily see it outside in the sunlight (which is important when working my bees) - I"m looking forward to getting out there and doing it.

Even better than advertised - it's advertised as a 30 frame per second camera. If you enter the menu options you can even set it as 60 frames per second. Even at that high frame rate you get nearly 45 minutes of recording on the included 32 gig SD card. The DIS (digital image stabilization) is a good asset for action videos. It helps reduce shaky images when the recorder is handheld. If you need a more stable platform, it comes with a standard tripod fitting. The model I received is actually an AC 11a, which has the 60fps improvement over the AC 11 that I purchased and reviewed last year. If you don't need or want the higher frame rate and want longer recording times, you can go down to 720p at 30 frames per second and get over three and a half hours of recording on the 32 gig SD card.
