Great way to break away from leasing

Nice and compact. About half the size of the Xfinity supplied modem/router that I had been using. First photo shows all of the contents of the carton, and the second shows the WavLink modem on the right, and the old Xfinity modem on the left. Sloppy initial setup by me. I'm in my fifties, and not a tech expert by any means. From the time I opened the box, until I had an Xfinity television cable signal and ethernet internet, it was 15 minutes. Another 10 and I had a new WiFi router connected. I have a 200 Mbps cable plan, and my first and second speed tests both showed 236Mbps and 239Mbps download via Ethernet, and the same via WiFi. This modem does not have a built-in WiFi router. That wasn't a problem for me, I bought an AC1200 dual band (2.4ghz & 5ghz) router for 30 bucks. More than enough speed for me. I'm not a gamer, and don't have a lot of devices connected; just a Wi-Fi extender, a phone, a tablet, and a laptop. 100% of my income comes from swing trading stocks, so a consistently fast and stable internet connection is an absolute must. For my purposes, this Motorola MB8611 modem, in combination with my router, works just as well, if not better, than the modem I was leasing from Xfinity for $15 a month.

So easy to setup and absolute speed increase.

I didn't even know or think my modem was outdated for the speed tier I pay for but indeed it was. Notice speed increase as I ran a speed test within 15 minutes of each other between changing over modems. Not seeing anywhere near the 200 mpbs but gettinga solid 100 almost now compared to 60 before. Insanely easy to setup even with a router. Plug it in and setup through the cable app. Awesome.
