heats up fast i have tight curls and i say for a white woman with as close to ethnic hair types your going to see in a Caucasian female anyway i get my hair done from dry natural to stright in about 15 minutes tops without using a round brush and hair dryer. i add to my hair routine a touch a small tad of some type of some kind of either silk oil serum or Gardneir oil serum even coconut milk serum to help with the frizz and heat from the straightener as well. i dont feel that it pulls out the hair from my head however i have noticed after im done with the straightener that some pieces of my hair is under the plates. i never experience pain it does get hot fast though so be careful with the touch of your hair and the iron. i downside to it is i noticed that if i don't imuse it fast after the 3 sec warm up to 410 degres it get cooled down to the settings under that degree so i have to do it again at the settings i needed and it also has the settings button inside the straightener which is hard to see which temp ur at once u get used to it u can go by the number of beeps to your temperature and thats not a huge deal anyway
