This is an early review as it has only been running for 12 hours, but so far so good! The temperature differential between room temp (77f) and refrigerated air from a/c vent (50f) was -27 degrees! I purchased to help out an old and failing central a/c unit which ran nearly 24/7 to cool 900sq ft down to 70-72f, and with this 12k btu window unit, temperature dropped to 69f within a few hours. It seems built well enough. Time will tell how this thing holds up.

I just installed this unit so I can't speak to its durability. But I'm impressed so far. I put this in a spare room in what used to be my parent's house. Older house, attic is poorly insulated and the exterior walls are not insulated at all (except for the garage I converted to a bedroom for Mom years ago). I'll remedy that soon. But this room faces west here in N. Central Texas. The 6000 btu unit that was in that room did nothing. Temp stayed the same whether you ran it or not. Basically the room was at least as hot as the outside temp. I installed this unit. Temp outside was 87, in the room it was 91. An hour later the temp outside has climbed to 93, while this unit has cooled that room (about 380 sq feet) down to 72. Considering the Texas sun and lack of insulation, that's a minor miracle. It is even considerably quieter than the unit it replaced.
