The mechanism is a little unusual, but it works fine. It helps to warm the can in hot water briefly before using it to produce a fine mist when spraying. Vigorous and frequent shaking before and during use is important (as with any spray paint). The resulting sheen is somewhere between matte and flat, but it meets our needs well. I can recommend this product.

Problem leaking out trigger

I am using the spray paint to protect some plywood that I will probably use for a dog house. I was taking advantage of the warm weather before winter moved in and just picked an agreeable color that I thought would have enough cans for however much I got done. A major complaint was the trigger which malfunctioned on probably one third of the cans. They leaked or poured all over my hand and the plywood. As far as protection, time will tell. I learned to spray it fairly close to my target with a sweeping motion.
