Ventilation: When rugs aren’t properly ventilated on the bottom, moisture can seep into the back of the rug and weaken it, as well as potentially causing mildew. Using a rug pad that allows for proper ventilation can help keep your rug cleaner and moisture-free. In addition, vacuum cleaners work much better on rugs when there is sufficient airflow underneath. Cushioning: Foot traffic continually presses rugs down into the floor, which causes continual wear and tear on the rug’s back and pile. Adding a layer of padding helps cushion the rug and lesson pressure, helping to prolong the rug’s life. In addition, the extra padding helps deaden sound in the room.

This is a beautiful well-made rug. However, the colors are not as blue as in the pictures. I understand this problem because I tried to take a picture and it also came out as not the true colors of the rug. They are beautiful colors,, however, doesn't match my decor. I highly recommend this rug.
