Good Deal

We live in a really small place and have played with this pool table combo over and again since we got it and are very pleased with the quality and look of it. Fits great in our condo and definitely serves its purpose.

Shipping was a hassle, actual product as expected.

My rating isn't based on shipping at all, but I feel like I do need to talk about the shipping process. Skip this paragraph if you don't care about shipping or are picking it up yourself. Product ships out of Chicago, IL and was delivered to me by a trucking company. Everyone's experience will be different based on the trucking company (mine was delivered by Estes). I've worked with Estes professionally and their customer service people are great but communication between their departments is not good. My product was shipped in 2 boxes and the 2nd box which contained the 4 legs and the benches was not in the truck. Also, I had to physically get into the truck and open the box and call up some friends to help me carry everything out. The truck is not equipped with a big enough lift-gate to offload the box and there was only 1 driver. The trucker's terms are basically to deliver to curb but he wasn't even equipped to do that. So don't expect an inside delivery or even curb-side delivery. The 2nd box was delivered on another day and I was given 20 minutes notice that they were delivering. I had called Estes earlier in the same day and they couldn't confirm there was even another box that was delivering, and they definitely didn't tell me that I had a delivery coming my way. Fortunately, I was able to leave work early, and fortunately I was able to get help off-loading the item from the truck (Estes again was not able to off-load truck). Now to the review of the table... the quality is similar to Ikea quality but the compressed wood is denser and heavier. I was surprised at how heavy the benches were. The legs are pretty solid but do have some give to them. The instructions say that sliding the table would damage it - I believe the instructions and would not slide; I imagine the legs would break. The levelers that were included are tiny and plastic (diameter of about 1.5-2 inches) and I didn't trust them at all. I got some steel 6 inch diameter levelers from amazon for about $25 for a set of 4). The actual playing surface is ok. I bought a good level device off amazon just so that I could make sure my table would be perfectly level. There are still some spots on the table where the ball takes an odd turn or curve before resting. If it weren't for these odd spots, the surface is not terrible. The roll of the ball and action off the bumpers is not quite the same as a real table but for me it's good enough. Also, on one of the pockets, the felt wasn't glued down well and it's kind of sticking up; i'll have to glue it back down myself with crazy glue or something. The felt also had/has a black smudge in the center of the table when I first opened it up but that is just cosmetic. The dining table top / ping pong table top I am a little disappointed in. It damages and scuffs very easily on the edges. Just trying to put on the table tennis net damaged the edges. I've decided to not even play table tennis and see if I can preserve the dining table top. I'm going to try to get a custom plexiglass to put over the table top to keep it nice. Also, the two table leafs are not perfectly aligned / flush when you put them together as a dining table. Kind of disappointing. All in all, I didn't pay for a slate table so I wasn't expecting the quality of a slate table. I'm a little disappointed in the playing surface and am scared that out of the box there are spots where the ball travels weird. I'm going to keep my table as in good shape as possible and i closely monitor the humidity of my room to prevent warping. For the price I paid (around $1000 with tax), I feel that this was not really a great purchase, and I have serious doubts that this will be playable for more than 1 year. The customer service at Bluewave products (i believe they are the US distributor) are amazing and 5 star. I had a lot of communication with them when the 2nd box was missing and they were very helpful. Thank you Kenyatta!
