Not the best price available, but Walmart was the only retailer that had stock for my 8 smoke detectors that are due for replacing all of my current ones. This model is a replacement for my current USI-1209 hardwired / battery backup smoke detector. The mounting bracket for this model is different than the USI-1209 model, so some extra electrical work is necessary. Be sure to turn off the power to all of the old models before attempting to install the new.

Good replacement smoke alarms

These were an easy replacement for my previous models that were 10 yrs old. Had the same 3 pin connector. The plate was different but identical in size. Loosened the screws and removed old plate, put the new plate over the same screws and tightened into position. Pulled the tab on the 10 yr battery then connected the power cable. Placed the device over the plate then clicked into place turning clockwise. Pretty simple. Old ones had two half circles to test and shut off. This has a single button - one push for test, press and hold to shut off.
