This was my first NAS purchase and I'm very impressed. Easy to use for a beginner. Able to access it immediately with the instructions in the box. Installation of HDD's was very straight forward. Very impressed with the software.

Look for Synology Alternatives First

On sale, this is a decent small NAS for simple backups and storage, which is all I use this for. I would not get this if you want to do anything more complicated than that. Synology as a company is becoming worse to their customers, so I'd look elsewhere first. RAM is fixed, but as a basic package this is worth consideration. Setup is simple enough, but both the NAS and PC used for setup need to be connected directly to the internet; once it is, you can set everything up in a straight-forward manner. I have not tried installing alternative NAS OS's on here.
