Although an 8" Chess Set is as small as MegaChess makes Chess Sets, it is still much larger than most chess sets. This is the right set if you are curious about owning a big chess set but want something affordable and easy to carry. This MegaChess set has an attractive storage box with a carry handle and a vinyl chessboard.
The plastic MegaChess pieces are rugged, waterproof, and UV-resistant injection-molded hollow plastic. Light enough to take on any outing, you can count on people (especially kids) to walk up and make friends!
And yes, you can weigh these pieces! Find the hole in the base as a soft spot in felt. Poke a hole in felt with a pencil. Fill with fine sand. Enlarge the hole with a drill if in a hurry. Drip household glue in the hole. Let glue-sand mix dry to form a hole plug.

IMPRESSED!!!!!
This set I bought for myself. The pieces are great, appear to of good quality as well as having enough weight to be stable and can be a real eye catcher. I wasn't too impressed with the by the vinyl mat as it won't lay flat. I think anyone who plays chess would appreciate it.

In love with chess
I purchased this chess set for my 8 yr old son whom is a beginner, he sleeps with the pieces. He loves the set, and wants to play almost every morning.
