I haven't had any of the negative issues that other reviewers have had. I'm wondering if they just don't know how to work it. it has a button on the bottom to turn it off if the device tips over, if you set the heater on the carpet it doesn't always turn the heater on. I have to set mine on top of a flat surface. also when you first get the heater all of the controls are turned to the lowest setting, so you do need to adjust those in order for the heater to turn on. I live in an older house and I did plug this heater directly into the outlet and I have not had a problem with it tripping the breaker . there was no burning smell when I first turned it on. so I guess if it does smell like it's burning there is an issue.

Bought as present for my grandmother to warm up bathroom. She's always cold and was using a large utility heater. This warms up the bathroom even quicker and only takes up a small amount of room. Because it could be accidentally knocked over or she could forget to turn it off the auto shut off and tip over protection was very important.
