The smell didn't really smell that vanilla to me, but that didn't matter, because it smells nice and clean. Definitely not a “sweet” smelling scent, more masculine, but not too much. It also didn't lather tremendously, but my skin felt soft and clean after using it. The scent isn't too powerful when you get out of the shower, either. Going to try to pair it with the lotion next time.
