Cool Water (EDT Spray) has always been my go-to scent since 1988! A sales lady had a tester and offered me a sample and I've been using it ever since! The scent is a timeless classic if you ask me. It's a crisp light scent that screams aquatic freshness and the essence of the ocean. The Amber base note enrobes the fragrance with sensuality and intensity, and what I like best is that the musk isn't overpowering. Sandalwood makes up the heart note and gives it that masculinity while the top notes of lavender and mint gives it a light burst of freshness to soften it. Together, it's a blend that harmoniously complements the whole.
I'll be honest, when it comes to cosmetics, skin care products, and scents, I have my reservations with making purchases from marketplace vendors; it's really a hit and miss with the product being authentic. And most reviewers don't note the vendor they purchased from. Luckily, Walmart provides this in the review header with verified purchases through Walmart.
With scents, it's extremely difficult to tell the differences between the real deal and a knockoff, even if you have a nose that knows! The giveaway usually lies within the details of the packaging. Look for things like a good quality cellophane and a tight wrap. Check the box for spelling errors, off-center prints, or inconsistent marks.
Most importantly, look for the batch code. This can be found at the bottom of the box. This is not the UPC code (the long barcode), nor is it the QR code (the square box). For Davidoff, this is the shorter code (4-6 characters long) that's either imprinted (stamped into) or printed on the box itself. In my pictures, this code is 4192. You can enter the batch code on websites like checkfresh.com to reveal the date of manufacture of the product. It will also serve double duty to tell you that your product is authentic! Once a batch code is used, it will not be used again for at least 10 years. Since you don't know which batch codes are in use, it's very difficult for counterfeiters to guess the correct code and they will usually just make up a batch number.
Cool Water Eau de Toilette (EDT) Spray's longevity should provide scent anywhere from 4-7 hours depending on your environment. If your scent doesn't last at least 4 hours, there's a high probability that it's a really old batch (if you know it's authentic) or that it's a counterfeit product with inferior ingredients.
I am happy to say that this purchase I made is an authentic product! The shelf life of scents is usually 36 months after opening with a maximum total lifespan of 60 months before noticeable degradation. My product was manufactured on 2024-07-10 (15 months ago) so it's been on the shelf a while, but the 36 month shelf life after opening still falls within the 60 month total lifespan. 5 stars to TheBookGuyZ LLC for their integrity!
