Right choice for me

I previously owned the highly recommended Brother 1034. Was most pleased with it. When my right needle broke I bent some arm and could never get it adjusted back correctly. I purchased this heavy duty Brother because it was on sale for just a few dollars more than the 1034. As the reviews state, it is louder than the 1034 but I'm ok with it. I like that it glides over thicker fabrics with ease. Threading it was not a real learning curve. A curved set of tweezers and watching You Tube is a must on threading a serger. It's scary the first couple of times but you get faster with practice. I will ALWAYS own a serger. Love how quickly and professionally you can put a project together with one.

Easy for beginner but strong for lots of use

This is my first serger so I don't have anything to compare to. It is, however, relatively easy to thread (after a few screw ups I'm now chugging along). I appreciate the steel frame and that it is meant to take some abuse. I'm using it for several hours a day and it's so easy to use.

Heavy Duty Serger

I bought this machine on the advice of a Facebook user. I have a Babylock Victory that I hate. Hate is not a strong enough word. While it does feature airthreading, that's not a big deal for me. I am 69 years young, and as long as I can find my reading glasses I can thread my machines. Now the needle itself is a challenge, but still doable. Anyway, the Babylock tension can only be adjusted by changing the stitch, stitch length and cutting blade width. I had learned to check my stitch (no matter how beautiful it appeared), by separating and gently tugging the fabric seam apart. The more you can view the stitches, the more you need to correct the tension. At last, I can do that with the HEAVY DUTY Brother. I can also trim through my quilt layers to give me a clean edge to bind to. I purchased this machine on line, confident that it was a good purchase based one my previous purchase of a Brother PE 800 Embroidery machine. Somehow you have made that pretty much idiot proof, but I'm trying. I wish you could put that kind of technology into your printers. I am less then thrilled with the one my husband purchased for me as a gift. Anyway, that is another story. Thank you!
