Oh my goodness! It's not heavy, so if you like heavy, put it under something. it arrived right on time because it decided to get really cold with little warning. It is deliciously soft and doesn't ever seem to get cold, so you crawl into a comfortable bed. i haven't washed it yet, so I can't report on that, but I would imagine if you treat it gently that it will be fine. ahd it was really affordable so I bought an extra large one for my bed.

Mildly expensive for a blanket, but well worth it, being greatly durable, having had one for four years now, and still being mostly fluffy. It pills a bit if you put it in the dry at too high a heat setting, but way less than you'd expect for this level of fluffiness. It was so good, that I went out of my way to figure out where we had previously bought it, so that I could replace it with one just like it, as other brands didn't quite stack up to it.
