This tension rod is made of heavy-duty carbon steel and has a white finish. Look deep inside the cardboard box flaps for the instruction manual, as it is easy to miss. I didn’t see it at first and put the wrong rods together, and they got stuck. If this happens, use a heat gun on the outer tube to expand the metal, and they will slide apart with zero damage! Once you read the guide, assembly is smooth since the main sections screw together clockwise without any hardware (the screws and brackets are for an optional permanent drill-mount). The rod didn't fit in my space, as I couldn't get the tight, secure tension needed to keep it from slipping. The carbon steel, one-push button expansion, and the fine-tuning end cap are great.
