GET THE FASHION FACTS:

What is a Boat Neckline? A Boat Neckline (or bateau neckline) is a wide, high neckline that runs horizontally across the collarbone, nearly reaching the tips of the shoulders.

What bra should you wear with a Boat Neckline? The biggest challenge with a Boat Neckline is preventing bra straps from peeking out near the shoulders. The best options to avoid this are a strapless bra or multi-way bra where you can cross or widen the straps to sit further out on your shoulders.

What body type looks best in a Boat Neckline? Because a Boat Neckline creates a wide horizontal line across the upper body, it visually broadens the shoulders and beautifully highlights the collarbones and neck. Walmart recommends Boat Necklines for:

1. Pear shapes: It balances out wider hips by adding visual width to the top half of the body.
2. Hourglass shapes: A Boat Neckline beautifully frames the shoulders while drawing attention down toward a defined waist.
3. Small-to-medium busts: The high, wide cut creates an illusion of a fuller chest and an elegant, elongated neck.
