Once the first plastic layer was removed, I immediately heard air rushing in and the mattress began expanding. It decompresses quickly, so I'm very glad I already had it positioned on the bed frame before opening it. 🟣 If you prefer softer mattresses and weigh around 200 lbs like I do, my experience may give you a good idea of what to expect from this one. 🟣 After the initial expansion it measured about 12 inches and felt extremely soft and squishy. I personally liked that initial plush feel. The instructions recommend leaving the mattress uncovered for 24–48 hours so it can fully expand and any foam odor can dissipate, but I did not notice any odor when opening it. 🟣 Several hours later the mattress firmed up slightly while still remaining on the softer side. I weigh about 200 lbs and typically sleep on my back, occasionally on my side. I deal with all-over body pain and usually prefer very soft sleeping surfaces, so the initial squishiness was actually ideal for me. I'm still adjusting to the slightly firmer feel that developed as it expanded, though it remains comfortable. 🟣 The pictures may not look like it due to the angle, but the mattress finished expanding to the advertised 14 inches. After a couple of nights of sleep it still feels soft with a bit more structure than when it first opened. I did misplace the instruction sheet and contacted the seller for another copy. Examples listed include a firm box spring, foundation box, platform bed with adequate slats, or even the floor.🟣 WRAP-UP: If you enjoy a softer memory foam mattress, this one starts out very plush and then firms up slightly as it finishes expanding. It reached the full advertised 14-inch height, expanded quickly once opened, and in my case had no noticeable foam odor. At around 200 lbs, sleeping mostly on my back, it still feels soft but supportive after two nights. Customer service also responded quickly when I had a question.
