Venus Fly Trap Plant - CARNIVOROUS - Dionaea - 2" Pot

Key item features

  • Carnivorous Nature: This Venus Fly Trap is a carnivorous plant, utilizing specialized "traps" to lure, capture, and digest various invertebrates for nutrients.
  • Watering Requirements: Requires distilled or rain water exclusively and must be kept consistently moist to thrive.
  • Nutrient Acquisition: Absorbs nitrogen from animal prey through its leaves, which are modified into traps, rather than from the soil through roots.
  • Trap Mechanism: Traps are lined with tiny hairs and a sweet-smelling substance; they activate and close when an insect touches a trigger hair.
  • Digestion Process: After capturing prey, the plant digests its meal over several days before the trap reopens for a new catch.
  • Sunlight Preference: Thrives in sunny window locations, indicating a need for ample light exposure.
  • Potting Medium: Best replanted using sphagnum moss, with peat moss as an acceptable alternative if sphagnum is unavailable.
  • Shipping Condition: Plants are shipped in a 3" clay pot, and some trap damage is expected during transit, which can be trimmed as new ones will sprout.

when it comes home it's thirsty leave it in it's p

one thing to remember .... ONLY used distilled water for your plant. it's going to come to you thirsty. Follow the directions that come with the plant. And you'll be okay. my plant was taken a mini vacation till it finally got to me. I did reach out to the seller and they were helpful. once it's out of their hands it's out of their hands. I would buy from the seller again but just remember. if you live in a hot area. That plant's going to come thirsty. my little "Gomez" did distilled water he loves it. I'm just thankful that seller gave me one because I had a 3-year-old Audra (Little shop of horror). now I have Gomez

Very pleased with product

The plant(s) were delivered in a 2" peat or sphagnum filled pot and arrived healthy and green, with many traps, some already turning red. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend.

I love my Audry.

For few years I wanted to get a Venus Fly Trap, but I hesitated because of the care of the plant. It is fun to have this "carnivorous plant", but before getting one, one has to learn about the care it takes, use only distilled/rainwater and the kind of soil and pot to plant it on. Once everything is set up, enjoy the Venus Fly Trap.
