I put my 32-inch monitor on top. I can see where people would say it is not sturdy, but I am assuming people are raising it the top-notch. It was easy to assemble, though I messed up one screw, and due to seeing so many people worried about sturdiness, I put some weight on the bottom shelf. I rocked it back and forth, and it was good. I get why someone wouldn't want to go the extra step, but mine is on a carpet.
